MISSIONS
Led by Cindy
Shrewsberry, we traveled to Belize and built a church in 10 days. The missions team also coordinated a
trip for the student ministry to Benton, TN. We experienced Quito, Ecuador Summer
2005.

Foreign Missions
Christ Community
church is a long time supporter of foreign ministries. Through
foreign missions we can minister to the physical, emotional, and
spiritual needs of people around the globe. Our foreign missions
ministry involves financial support of two Church of God Living
Link Missionaries.

Caroline Ackerman
Christ Community Church has been a long time supporter of
Caroline Ackerman, a medical missionary to Dar es Salam,
Tanzania in Africa. She will be visiting the weekend of
October 29th-31st.
Jon and Karen Lambert
We have also supported Jon and Karen Lambert in Quito,
Ecuador in South America for about 8 years. The Lamberts are

Helping Ministries
A variety of helping ministries are provided to the Lake Charles
Community and to our church community.

Local Missions
Projects vary from year to year. In past years we have
supported the Potter’s House, the Lord’s Place, Habitat for
Humanity, The Women’s Shelter, New Life Counseling, ABC
Crisis Pregnancy Center, Red Cross, Abrahams Tent, and the
men and women in the armed services. Support may be given in
various ways including financial, tangible gifts, physical
labor, or donations of food and toiletries.
Oak Park Food Pantry
Oak Park Food Pantry provides food to needy families in the
Oak Park area. We, along with six other Oak Park area
churches, work together to help feed those in need. Food is
provided on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and there is an
annual Thanksgiving Basket program as well. Many of our
church members volunteer at OPFP.
Bread of Life
Over the past few years the number of families needing food
from Oak Park Food Pantry has increased substantially. Due
to the large need for food, the missions team will be
starting a program called “Bread of Life”. Outside of our
kitchen door is a display with canvas bags. Please pick up a
bag, take it home and hang on your door. Fill it up during
the week with the food supplies listed or any other
non-perishable foods and return to church the next week.
Each can or box of food will have a scripture attached to it
so that the recipient will receive the food they need and
the Bread of Life, God’s word.
Benevolence
The Benevolence committee works to meet the needs of
families from Christ Community Church that are in crisis.
When there is a death, major illness, or other need, this
committee provides meals, flowers, or seeks to meet the
needs of the family in crisis. The Benevolence Committee
also helps with food preparation and service at many church
wide functions. At various times in the year there may be
physical, emotional or financial needs for people or
families within the church, and at times, outside of the
church. Benevolence funds may be used to help in these
situations.

Family Life
|
Family Life Classes
Family Life is a program created to support families to live
with Godly values. Each semester one of our Wednesday night
classes will have one Family Life class. Family Life classes
are geared toward marital issues, parenting and family
issues, and other topics that are vital to helping create
Godly families. Our hope is to plan future marriage and
family retreats as well.
Pre-Marital Counseling
Pre-marital counseling is required of all couples that wish
to be married at Christ Community Church. This counseling is
used to help the couple identify their strengths, help them
identify areas where growth may be needed, and to provide
them with a Biblical foundation for marriage. Premarital
counseling is an investment for the future made by the
couple and by Christ Community Church. God values marriage
and it is our mission to provide couples with the skills to
live a Godly marriage. If you plan to be married please
contact Pastor Rick McClain. |
